HOW TO GET HERE BY CAR
From the centre of the country by highway: Take the highway (Toll road) Querétaro-San Luis Potosí, don`t enter the city of SLP and continue towards Saltillo, taking you onto the MAXIPISTA direction RIO VERDE. From Rio Verde continue to Ciudad Valles following signs for CUOTA (Toll road). It should take you about 8 hours to get to ciudad valles. THIS IS THE BEST OPTION!
From the centre of the country by freeway via Tamazunchale (Federal Road #85 Mexico-Laredo): Take the road that connects Pachuca with Tamazunchale. This road has a lot of curves so it`s not recommended to drive at night. THIS OPTION IS NOT RECOMMENDED! Takes about 9 hours.
From the centre of the country by freeway via La Sierra Gorda: Take the Carretera Federal #120 that connects Querétaro with Jalpan (“missionroute”), continue towards Xilitla. From Xilitla head towards Carretera Federal #85 in direction Ciudad Valles. It`s a very scenic route with plenty of options to stop at the different Missions (Tilaco, Landa de Matamoros, Concà(with a little detour)) Jalpan y Xilitla. We can recommend to visit the town of Bernal along the way. This road is very curvy and undulating so it is not recommended to drive at night. During the day it has spectacular views of the countryside. It should take about 9 hours. DON´T USE AT NIGHTTIME
From the north of the country: If you´re coming from Nuevo Leon or Tamaulipas, take the highway direction to Ciudad Victoria. From Cd. Victoria towards Cd. Mante and from here take the Carretera Federal #85 to Cd. Valles. It should take about 7 hours.
An alternative route: Head to Saltillo, then to Matehhuala until you find the return to Rioverde-tampico. Take highway #57 to Matehuala and on KM 65 exit to the maxipista (toll road) to rioverde. Upon getting to rioverde, continue to Ciudad Valles on the toll road. It should take about 8 hours to get to ciudad valles.
** If you are a few persons, we recommend that you travel by Bus. It is much more convenient, safe and less tiring. As a result you will enjoy the activities more.
